Welcome to the NeuroSpa

The NeuroSpa at Chalfont Guidance Center offers new treatment options to patients who suffer with treatment resistant depression.

Offering FDA approved Spravato, patients receive esketamine, an evidence based medication shown to clinically reduce and in some patients eliminate depressive symptoms.

How to Get Started

Patients must be eligible for Spravato treatment, based on past treatment history, specifically a history of failing two or more antidepressant medications. If you meet this criteria, the first step is an Initial Evaluation and consultation.

Please see out frequently asked questions below for answers to commonly asked questions.

Common Questions

1. Is Spravato (esketamine) safe?

A. Spravato is an FDA approved medication, appropriate for treatment resistant depression. Robust research and data support Spravato as a safe treatment method for treatment resistant depression, and oftentimes with fewer side effects than traditional medication based therapy.

2. What happens during Spravato treatment?

A. At the start of treatment, the patient self administers one puff of the medication into each nostril. Prior to the start, during, and after treatment, vital signs are taken by your provider. Patients are required to remain at the NeuroSpa for two hours after administration, and may not drive themselves home. You will be monitored during the entire duration of your stay by your provider. Your safety and comfort is our utmost priority during treatment.

3. Is Spravato treatment covered by insurance?

A. The answer to this is multifaceted. The drug itself is often covered by insurance; however a Prior Authorization is necessary first, justifying why the medication is needed. Your provider will take care of this prior to starting treatment.

Unlike many clinics, Chalfont Guidance Center DOES accept insurance for the treatment portion. The only out of pocket fee required by Chalfont Guidance is a $250 Consultation Fee. The consultation typically occurs after the Initial Evaluation, and is not billed through insurance.

4. Do you offer IV or IM Ketamine treatment?

No. The NeuroSpa at Chalfont Guidance Center does not offer any form of IV or IM ketamine.
